Install Matelume

Download the Windows installer, get past the SmartScreen warning, install and start Matelume, update to a new version, or uninstall it.

Matelume Guide. Upcoming features are marked separately.

Matelume comes as one Windows installer for everyone. The trial and every plan use the same installer, and buying a plan unlocks the copy you already have.

Download

  1. Open the Download page on matelume.com.
  2. Click the download button. You get one file, named like Matelume-Setup-1.0.2.exe, of about 2.5 GB.
  3. If your browser asks whether to keep the file, keep it only when it came from matelume.com.

Tip: To check the file, compare its SHA-256 checksum with the one under Verify the installer (SHA-256) on the Download page. In PowerShell, in your Downloads folder, run Get-FileHash .\Matelume-Setup-1.0.2.exe (with your file's name).

Get past the SmartScreen warning

The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may stop it with a blue Windows protected your PC window. Windows shows this for installers it doesn't recognise yet.

  1. Click More info.
  2. Check that the app is the Matelume setup file you downloaded, then click Run anyway.

If there's no Run anyway button, your PC's settings block unrecognised apps; ask whoever manages the PC. Never turn off Windows security to install Matelume, and don't install if Windows reports a threat.

Windows then asks whether to let the installer make changes to your PC. The publisher shows as unknown for the same reason. Click Yes.

Install

  1. The setup wizard opens on Set up Matelume. Click Next.
  2. Keep the suggested folder, Program Files\Matelume, or choose another. Click Next.
  3. Leave Create a desktop shortcut ticked if you want one. Click Next, then Install.
  4. Wait a few minutes. If your PC doesn't have the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, the wizard installs it for you.
  5. On the last page, Matelume is installed, leave Launch Matelume ticked and click Finish.

First start

Matelume opens in its own window, full screen the first time. It asks you to link this PC to your Matelume account: follow Sign in and link your PC.

After that, start Matelume from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut. If it's already open, starting it again brings the open window to the front.

Update to a new version

Matelume doesn't update itself. When a new version is out, the Download page and What's new say so.

  1. Download the new installer from the Download page.
  2. Let any build finish, then click Quit in Matelume's top bar.
  3. Run the new installer over your current copy. Don't uninstall first.

The update replaces the program in place. You stay signed in, and your settings, your projects and your exported materials are kept.

To see which version you have, find Matelume in Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps.

Uninstall

  1. Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps (on Windows 10, Settings > Apps > Apps & features).
  2. Find Matelume, choose Uninstall and confirm.

The uninstaller closes Matelume first, then removes the program. It keeps your projects (Documents\Matelume), your settings (%APPDATA%\Matelume) and every material you exported. Delete those yourself if you no longer need them. The Blender add-on and the 3ds Max plugin stay in those programs until you remove them there.

Note: If you're leaving this PC for good, unlink it on My account as well, so it doesn't keep one of your two PC places. See Your PCs.
