Marble

Exporting marble

Export your marble's full-quality maps for your programs, with the vein mask, a .json of its real size and finish, and a how-to sheet per program.

Matelume Guide. Upcoming features are marked separately.

The marble export writes the full-quality maps of your stone at the quality you chose, made the same way as the 3D view, with every choice from the Craft steps in them.

Exporting

  1. Check the facts at the top: Name, Quality, For (your programs), Tile (or Slab, when you use it once) with its size in millimetres, and Finish in GU, with the veins' gloss.
  2. Under Folder, click Choose the folder.... The folder window may open behind the browser. You can also paste a folder path into the field; the line under it reads "Saves to" and the folder.
  3. Click Export the maps. The button reads Exporting... while it works.
  4. When it is done, the picture lists every file with the size in pixels and millimetres, and Open the folder opens it. The button becomes Export again.

Each export gets a folder of its own named after your material. If that folder already exists, a number is added, so an older export is never overwritten.

What you get

Only the maps your programs use, plus the vein mask, the .json and the how-to sheets:

If you picked Unreal, a packed map (ambient occlusion, roughness and metalness in one file) comes in an extras folder.

Tile or slab

In your 3D program

The normal map does the shading. Polished stone's relief is so small that displacement is optional and changes almost nothing. If you use the height, use it for displacement only, never as a second bump on top of the normal map. Set the stone's IOR to 1.57, with no metalness and no coat: a coat would add a second reflection.

After an export, Send to Blender (and Send to 3ds Max, if you picked V-Ray or Corona) can bring the material straight into your scene: On the selected objects at its real size, A sphere (30 cm, ready to render) or A plane with the tile or the slab at its real size. Each needs the Matelume add-on or plugin; the Export section of this guide explains them.

Note: In the free trial, exports are up to 2K, with a small Matelume watermark on the colour map. The Export step says so in its facts.
