What Matelume does

Matelume turns one image into a real-size PBR material for your 3D software, made on your own Windows PC.

Matelume Guide. Upcoming features are marked separately.

Start with a flat image you have the right to use: a scan, a catalogue swatch or your own design. Camera mode is coming, without an announced date. The app’s Photo and Choose a photo labels refer to the image you load.

Matelume turns one image into a physically based (PBR) material for Blender, 3ds Max and the other renderers you use. You work through the steps in the Matelume Studio, with your material live in 3D beside the image the whole time. When it looks right, you export a folder of maps at the real size of the thing you photographed.

What goes in

A flat image that inspires you: a scan, a catalogue swatch or your own design, showing the whole pattern at least once. You choose what it shows:

Flooring, Wall paint and Wall panel are coming soon.

You also tell Matelume two things only you know: which 3D programs you use, and how big the image is in real life. Matelume can't read real size from a picture, so you set it.

What comes out

For fabric and marble, you get one folder with:

The maps are one tile. Your program repeats it across the object, at its real size.

Wall art exports a ready 3D asset instead: the framed artwork as a GLB file and, when Blender is installed on your PC, an FBX, with its maps and the frame's textures. Marble also gets a vein mask.

Where it runs

Matelume is a Windows app. Your images, your projects and all the map building stay on your PC. The heavy work uses your NVIDIA graphics card when you have one, and the processor otherwise.

Matelume needs a Matelume account and an internet connection while you work. You sign in through your web browser, and a new account starts with a 5-day free trial. See Sign in and link your PC and Trial and plans.

Into your 3D program

Matelume comes with an add-on for Blender and a plugin for 3ds Max (V-Ray or Corona). They bring a material into your scene with one click, set up at its real size. In any other program, you use the maps with the how-to sheet and the .json. See Export your material.

Next: check the System requirements, then Install Matelume.
