The Studio
A tour of the Studio
The parts of the Matelume Studio, from the top bar and the step bar to the picture, the 3D view, the controls panel and the step guide.
Matelume Guide. Upcoming features are marked separately.
The Studio is where you make a material, one step at a time, with the result in 3D beside you. The screen has five parts.
The top bar
From left to right:
- The material name. It starts as "Untitled material" and fills in from your image's file name. Click it to type your own. It names the export folder and its files.
- Chips for your choices: your programs (for example "For Blender"), the material type and the quality. Each chip appears once you've finished that step.
- The plan badge: your trial or plan. Click it for your account; see Sign in and link your PC.
- Dark mode or Light mode: switches the Studio's look. Matelume remembers your choice on this PC.
- Motion on or Motion off: turns the interface animations off. Matelume also follows Windows' reduced-motion setting.
- Step guide: opens the guide (see below).
- Quit: closes Matelume. While maps are being built, it asks first, and the build finishes before Matelume closes.
The step bar
Below the top bar, the step bar shows the phases, numbered: Begin, Prepare, Craft and Export. Wall art adds a Frame phase before Export. Click a phase to open its first step.
Under the phases are the steps of the phase you're in. A tick (✓) marks a step you've finished. Hover over a step to see what you chose there. You can go back to any step you've reached; phases further on stay locked until you get there.
When you change an early step, such as the image or the quality, you go through the later steps again with the new choice.
The picture and the 3D view
The middle of the screen shows your picture on the left and your material in 3D on the right. The tabs above them switch between Photo, 3D material and Side by side, the default.
Next to the tabs, a status line says what's happening: "Ready for an image", "Updating · previous result shown" or "Preview ready". A thin running line along the top means Matelume is working.
The 3D view stays live in every step. See The 3D view.
The controls panel
The panel on the right holds the step's controls. Each control has a short bold line saying what it does, with more detail below it in smaller text.
From the craft steps on, a Builds on row lists the earlier steps this one builds on, with what you chose in each. Click one to go back to it.
At the bottom are Back and Continue. Continue waits until the step is ready, and a line above it says what's missing, for example a raised part you still need to pick. On the last step before export, it reads Continue to export.
Progress
Longer tasks show a small progress card in the corner, with the time left, so your 3D view stays in sight. Click Open progress ↗ to see it larger. The time estimates learn how fast your PC is, so they get better as you use Matelume.
The step guide
Click Step guide to open the guide above the controls. It tells you in plain words what the step does and what to do next, using what Matelume knows about your image: its size, how even its light is, what kind of design it shows and which seamless tool suits it. It warns you, too, for example when an image is small for the quality you picked. The guide is built in and answers instantly.
Tip: When a recommendation in the guide has a Why?, click it to see the reasons.
